Microsoft Outlook XP and Outlook 2003
Microsoft Outlook 97 / 98 / 2000 in Corporate/WorkGroup mode
Microsoft Exchange Client
Microsoft's Windows Messaging

When configuring GAB with Microsoft Windows Messaging and error occurs

The command you specified could not be carried out.
The messaging service DLL could not be loaded
0 - [80040603]

You are probably using version 4.0.410.59   will need to apply the Microsoft Windows Message Update.
Microsoft Exchange version 4.0.839.14 or greater is required.

Outlook 98 /2000 - I have no Services Tab - only Accounts Tab

When you installed Outlook 98 there were 3 selections
Internet Only
Corporate / WorkGroup
No Email

For the Extended MAPI services to be installed you must select the second option Corporate / WorkGroup.
To install the Corporate / Workgroup option

1. From within Outlook, Select Tools and Options.
2. Select the tab Mail Services 
3. Select the button Reconfigure Mail Support
4. Select the radio buttion option Corporate/WorkGroup
5. Then select the Next button
6. Continue the installation as directed.

Else

1. Go to Control Panel, and run Add/Remove Programs.
2. From the list at the bottom of the Install/Uninstall tab, choose Microsoft Outlook 98 then click Add/Remove.
3. On the Outlook 98 Active Setup/Maintenance Wizard dialog box, click Add New Components.
4. On the Add New Components dialog box, choose whether to install from CD (once you get one) or Microsoft's web site.
5. Choose the components you want to install and follow the instructions given.

Can I Use Outlook Express

No, Outlook Express does not support Extended MAPI, which is required for the Dencom Global Address Book Client.

Disable the Banner - Dencom Global Address Book Client

Making sure that you have version 2.2.2 or greater of the Dencom Global Address Book MAPI Service DLL.
i.e. The 'dnzgab32.dll'

Create or edit the file named 'DNZGAB.INI' in the windows directory with the following lines

[Dencom Global Address Book]
BANNER=no

Disable the Banner - Dencom Address Book Connect Client

Create or edit the file named 'DNZABC.INI' in the windows directory with the following lines

[Dencom Address Book Connect]
BANNER=no

 

Add Microsoft Mail Postoffice Address to the Address Book

Add a new entry Address with:
Email Address in the format of workgroup/postoffice/mailboxname

Transport Type as MS

Cannot send Group Emails

1. You need to check your Email Server SMTP Logs, and you should see the Error.
2. SMTP Servers like SendMail etc can have Spamming Rules set, so if one recipient is invalid, the whole Email Messages is rejected, or the Server may be set to only allow X number of recipients in the To Header, or only allow a Size of X Bytes in the To Header.

Is Outlook 2002 XP supported

Yes. Outlook 2002/XP and Outlook 2003 is supported in version 3.55 or greater of the Address Book.

Mailing Addresses and Word

As the Dencom Global Address Book Client is MAPI based, you can access this database through varies means, the most common, request is adding mailing addresses to Word.
To do this simple create an Autotext named AddressLayout in Word and add your required PR Records. Then using the Address Book button in Word, select the required Address from the Address Book.

Sample:
Company name = <PR_COMPANY_NAME>¶
Street Address = <PR_STREET_ADDRESS>¶
Location = <PR_LOCALITY>
State = <PR_STATE_OR_PROVINCE>
PostCode = <PR_POSTAL_CODE>
Country = <PR_COUNTRY>

Not a Valid Database message

This message may occur in versions of 2.x and early versions of 3.x and occurs when someone has tried to open the .gab file (the file email clients access for Read Only mode) from within the Admin Utility.
To resolve this simply edit the DNZGABDB.INI and edit the line DBNAME= and point this to the .mdb file (default name DNZGABDB.MDB).
